About Bartlett & Associates

Designing great spaces. Building great relationships.

These are the foundations of our studio.

Solid foundations are essential to creating things that last. In a world where design is increasingly viewed as disposable, B|A believes in longevity. We want our work to stand the test of time, which is why we design interiors that are ready to adapt and evolve as our clients’ needs change. Design is a process, and that process doesn’t stop with a move-in or completion date. Our clients are going places and we love being part of the journey.

Rather than apply our own signature style to your space, we’ll help you make a statement of your own. B|A brings a fresh perspective to every project, developing unique solutions for each individual client. Your space should tell your own story, much like the space we created for ourselves tells ours.

The B|A office is still located in the brick building where Inger Bartlett launched Bartlett & Associates in 1983 – though we’ve taken over a lot more space since then. Our headquarters has taken shape over time, growing along with our studio and the scope of our work. We’ve filled two floors with inspiring art and comfortable furnishings, and our team feels very much at home here – which is exactly how we want our clients to feel in the spaces we deliver.

We are best known for our workspace interiors, but we do a little bit of everything, including residential, hospitality, showrooms and bespoke furniture. These works have received awards from around the globe, including several recent prizes from design organizations in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. Our projects have also been published internationally, by such renowned outlets as Frame, Interior Design and Azure. Who We Are

Inger Bartlett, Founder & President

Inger launched Bartlett & Associates in 1983 and leads each and every project to this day. She believes the most successful design solutions emerge when diverse perspectives and skillsets come together and she runs our open studio accordingly. Before striking out on her own, Inger led interior projects with one of Canada’s major banks. That experience combined with her education (a Fine Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Interior Design from the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Architecture) to inform a holistic approach that she applies to all her interior projects.

Marshal Stearns, Partner

Marshal is a Harvard College/Harvard Business School alumnus who spent many years in the financial world before joining B|A in 2002 to head up business development. He’s our numbers guy, but his enthusiasm for design is boundless and he is a wealth of information related to workplace strategy, as well as budgeting. He often serves as the liaison between the client and the design team, and if you have questions about the design process, visioning or workspace trends, Marshal has likely written a white paper that provides the answers.
